Description
This is a 1 of 1 art piece.
All of the materials used in the making of this piece are salvaged and repurposed. This coroplast square came from a Colorado Springs business called Junk Removed Now. They set these aside so that they could be reused in some fashion. Upon receiving them I knew immediately how I could use them to make art. From a young age I have used discarded materials to get through life, my creativity has brought that into my art. This has led to such creations as this. Bringing together materials destined for the landfill and bridging the gap to make something new.
I had wanted to create a new stencil for some time. Luckily we had just finished another box of cereal. So I emptied out the crumbs, put the plastic bag in the trash and unfolded the box. Got a pencil and went to work. Designed this skull stencil. Went and dug into my stack of graffiti stencils from days gone by and put my paint mask on. Got the paint out and went to town.
This was created in a series of live streaming events I did on an app called Periscope. My wife was expecting our 3rd son and I was trying social media seriously for the first time. We are talking three hour lives 6 days a week. It was an incredible ride. There are only a handful of these vinyl record originals left from that time.
As I painted this, I wanted to add depth of color, contrast and complementing colors. I love colors and combining them. Life has given me ample curiosity and intrigue into life. Resulting in depth of discovery into the combinations that nature brings into this world.
This is ready to hang up. Felt pads on the corners and appropriate hardware to hang up on the wall.
